Commonly Asked Questions:

Q. Is it safe?
A. Yes, oral sedation is proven to be very safe and effective.

Q. Will I feel any pain?
A. No, you should not experience any discomfort at all while sedated.

Q. Will someone need to accompany me?
A. Yes, you will need someone to accompany you due to the sedative effects of the pill. You will not be able to drive yourself to or from your dental appointment.

Q. Will I be unconscious?
A. No, although you are in a state of mild sedation and may fall asleep, you will not be unconscious.

Q. How long will I be sedated?
A. Depending on your needs, anywhere from 2 to 6 hours. You will probably take a nap at home after your dental visit is over.

How Does It Work?

You are given a pill to take one hour prior to your dental appointment. A companion of yours must accompany you to our office. When you arrive, you will be very drowsy. You will relax into a very comfortable chair and be covered with a warm, cozy blanket. Once you are totally comfortable, our experienced clinical team will take care of your dental needs. When your treatment is completed, your companion will return you home where you will most likely sleep for a few hours.

Oral sedation is proven to be a very safe and effective method in helping our patients receive the dental care they need and want without the anxiety and stress often associated with dental visits. Many of our patients tell us that they can’t believe how easy it was to undergo dental treatment and that they experienced no discomfort whatsoever.
